Eve 6 and my busy life

August 04, 2008 :: Monday

Busy busy busy. I've been so. Busy. And it won't be settling down anytime soon.

Eve 6

Friday, David, Tyler, Emily, and I drove two hours south to see Eve 6 (my favorite band!!) at Ft. Benning in Columbus, GA. It was such a blast besides the part where they only played for forty-five minutes, and it was filled with kids covering their ears because it was loud and their moms getting angry and asking you to please not stand in the front because my kids can't see. WHATEVER LADY. It's a freaking concert. Your kids can't even understand the lyrics. Get out of here.

Anyway. Thursday I'm heading to Massachusetts to visit my grandfather who's been really sick. Our whole family is going (my whole mom's side, that is). She has six brothers and sisters, just to give you some scope. Plus their kids. We're all like, 15 and up though, except for two.

So I worked a twelve hour day today, and I plan to do the same tomorrow in order to make up for the hours I'll be missing at the end of the week. It really wasn't that bad today.

Only two more days left in my work week!

I'm a fourth year with alphabet magnets

August 15, 2008 :: Friday

BREAK. I've been so busy this whole week what with wrapping things up at work (Monday - Wednesday), move-in + Boot Up training (Thursday), Boot Up and unpacking (today).

Boot Up is the College of Computing's freshmen orientation. It's a fun little day designed to help the freshmen get to know each other. It's really a great program, and I think today was a big success. I don't really have time to talk about it though because David and I are about to go out for dinner with our friends.

But first, this is a little surprise that David left me on my new fridge:

Alphabet letters: I love you

David goes by the name of DAP to all our friends. :)

Happy Friday!!

This feels obligatory

August 23, 2008 :: Saturday

Well hello. Here I sit with a cup of oreos and milk, and I'm ready to tell you about my first week of school.

It was pretty good, all things considered, and I'm so ready for this new semester. ESPECIALLY since I won't be part-timing fourteen hours a week like I did in the spring. We don't do that again.

I dropped a couple classes and added some as well, and here is what my class schedule looks like:

Class schedule - Fall 2008
  • PSYC 2210 - Social Psychology
  • CS 3251 - Networking I
  • CS 3210 - Design of Operating Systems
  • CS 3451 - Computer Graphics
  • ISYE 3770 - Probability and Statistics
I dropped a Management class (MGT 2200) and Educational Technology(CS 4660) and picked up Networking. After I visited my (as usual UNHELPFUL) advisor on Tuesday morning and after I attended one (horrific) class of Educational Technology, my whole world fell into place, and I finally decided on my Threads: Media and Platforms. YAY. I'm so excited to finally have a definitive direction in my educational life.

So that's that. So far, my favorite class is Networking and my least favorite is Computer Graphics. Enough with the group activities already!!

I need to go set my laptop up for Design of OS. I need to make sure I register my copy of Vista, and also I need to install Office 2007 on both my laptop and desktop.

Yeah, hi.

August 27, 2008 :: Wednesday

I'm mad because my Social Psychology professor thought it would be a fun game to randomly call on people to answer questions (that may or may not have actual answers) during lecture. Granted, he didn't call on me, but I got so worried that he might that I completely MISSED what he was saying for the rest of the lecture. Can we say, social anxiety? Kthx.

Can I get a little help here?

August 29, 2008 :: Friday

So I went to talk to my psych professor this morning before class about the little issue I was having on Wednesday. He told me that he wouldn't call on me, told me that I probably don't have social anxiety disorder, and he gave me a pamphlet for the Georgia Tech Counseling Center.

I called the Counseling Center to make an appointment with the Psychiatry Clinic. The lady kept calling out times during which I had class, her favorite being Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 10am when I have psychology. And if you look a couple of posts back, you'll see that Tuesdays and Thursdays are out of the question. So I said to the lady, "The best time for me would be Monday, Wednesday, or Friday anytime except 10am." She says, "Well this isn't going to work. We're into October now [as far as appointments go], and this isn't going to work."

WTF. So what, you're not going to help me? That's the end of it? I have no other options? I just CAN'T GET HELP?

Way to make me feel cared about, Georgia Tech Counseling Center.

Ridiculous.
