This was my Saturday

David, the sorcerer.

Both of the waterfalls, although the most distant one is hard to see. We climbed up just beside the closest waterfall to get to the farther one where we climbed behind it (behind the falling water, in case you need some clarification) to chill out.

Me and David.

All of us (except Stephen).

Emily jumping off the "poop" rock. Don't ask.

David and me. The sun was in our eyes. More so in David's. Hehe.

Emily, Spenser, Tyler, and William.
We went to Brasstown, South Carolina to hike to, climb up, and climb behind two waterfalls.
My new favorite thing is sitting behind waterfalls with my friends.
Happy Birthday Nick!!

Hehe. This is an old picture! Kinda :)
"Expect the unexpected"
Sometimes in their lives, people do unexpected things. They do things that are out of character. They do things like give up chocolate for twenty-one days, join cross country even though they hate running, or sometimes they even -- join a sorority.
I know, I know! "But you don't like girls!" you say. "You have plenty of extracurriculars!" you say. "You're a fourth year!" you say.
I know all of these things. But I just wanted to do it. I can't explain why. I guess after all these years of being "one of the only girls" everywhere I go, I developed a longing to have some girl friends. And it will be easier this time because I'm not competing against any of them.
I would also like to add that the sorority I joined isn't one of the stereotypical ones that you see on TV or in movies like that one about a Bunny who goes to college to be a mom. What was it called? Anyway, Alpha Omega Epsilon is an Engineering (and Computer Science) sorority. We are a professional, philanthropic, and social sorority. Not purely social, please note.
Anyway. That is my news of the year. I went through recruitment last week (not the traditional rush though), got my bid Monday, and was initiated last night.
Currently playing: Tales of Vesperia

Tales of Vesperia - Special Edition. Image credits.
Loving it. David and I are playing together, and although we've only got about twelve hours of playing time so far (it's like a sixty hour game), it is just SO GOOD. So good.
This is my first time playing a game from the Tales series. David has been a long time fan.
One class sits between me and the weekend. Then it's time for Tales!
The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing
Exciting news!!! I have received a scholarship to attend this year's Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference at Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colorado! All expenses paid: travel, lodging, registration fees. I will be going with sixteen other women from the CoC. The conference will take place from October 1, 2008 - October 4, 2008. So many fun and interesting events will take place during that time period. If you don't know who Grace Hopper is, you should definitely look into her amazing accomplishments and contributions to the field of Computer Science.
Lamp Post Project: Version 3.0!
Remember that time that I said I was working on a new layout for the site? Well, this is it! Haha, it took forever (I put the project on hold for awhile), but I finally got inspired on Friday and finished it up last night.
It's very Fall-ish, which is weird for me, because I usually choose my color schemes regardless of the time of year. So this is kind of cool, I think.
This is my first layout using Photoshop, but really I only used it for the header image. Still, I loved Photoshop. As much as I tried not to.
I'm sure you'll notice that I added a few more features, like the "Your favorites" and "My favorites" sections. "Your favorites" are simply based on the number of comments that entry received, and "My favorites" are entries that I wish more people would have read.
Also, I'm happy to announce that for the first time, this (a new layout) is compatible with Firefox AND Internet Explorer at the same time! You're proud, right? :) It was quite a challenge, mind you. Effing nested div layers. ^^
So anyway, ignore the valid XHTML and valid CSS links down in the footer for awhile, because there are bound to be a few quirks here are there. Feel free to let me know if you find one. Or not. :)
I hope you like it!
Computer Graphics: Project 2
The bulk of my stress as of late has been caused by my Computer Graphics class, CS 3451. In particular, this project:
CS 3451: Project 2
Feel free to take a look and play around with it. It involves triangles and vectors and dot products. Ten points to anyone who can figure out how to make it do something CRAZY, where crazy = bad and unpredictable. Just don't tell my grading TA. Kthx.
Also, could the guy next door please turn his music down? At least the bass?
I know.
I know that I haven't updated in awhile, but the truth is, I just didn't feel like it.
Another factor is that for some reason I can't SFTP into my web space provider's server, meaning I can't upload any pictures. Hey guys, what's going on over there?
I am going to be so busy until I leave for Grace Hopper. For some reason, all of my classes (three) decided that they needed to set TBD dates for their tests. I predict that they will all fall during the time period that I am in Colorado. Meaning I will have to take them early. So far, I am one for zero. I found out today that my OS test is on October 2nd.
I have at least two tests, two projects, and one quiz before I leave on September 30th. Pray for me. :)
I don't think it was supposed to be like this.
Guys. I am so tired of studying. I can't even begin to explain it to you. I have been studying, projecting, or homeworking since Thursday, September 18th. I have no clue where my instant ability to focus for long periods of time came from, but it has been enabling me to get through what has to be the most demanding two weeks in my academic life. I have been working almost every moment that I wasn't sleeping, eating, or showering. Sometimes I would even study in the shower.
And yet I will still not get A's on all of my tests, projects, quizzes, and homeworks. Why? Because this is Georgia Tech where your OS professor doesn't understand that you WON'T BE ABLE TO STUDY PROPERLY for his test that he is making you take early. And even when you ask him if you can take it when you get back from Grace Hopper, he says no.
At this point, I can't imagine what I will do when I get my free time back. I don't know how to do anything except study.
Work that I have finished:
graphics quiz
AOE quiz
prob/stats homework
prob/stats test
Work that I have to do before Tuesday night when I leave for Colorado:
OS test
networking project
graphics project
networking homework
Work that I have to do within one week of getting back from Grace Hopper:
psychology test
networking test
OS homework
prob/stats homework
I may have forgotten something. Anywho. I will continue my running on eight-hours straight of studying for my OS test which is tomorrow at 1pm. Farewell.
